batty.

by skunkboycreatures

when i was somewhere around 10 years old, sister no.2 and i shared a bedroom and from time to time the mess would get just completely out of control. as all mothers do, ours repeatedly tried to find ways to help us clean up our room without really helping us at all. so sister no.2 and i came up with a method of throwing EVERYTHING that was on the floor into a large pile and then make sub piles to breakdown the chaos. we would then attack the small piles one at a time until everything was put away properly.

i know... it was a lovely story... and i tell it, so well. but i DO have a point.

this past week i have felt like i have {insert witty idiom that refers to some sort of stressful mind mayhem and it's annoying, aggravating tendency to drive me bat shit crazy}. the same 50 thoughts are cycling in my brain. it's either about work, dreams, friends, family; the norm, i suppose but it's irritating this week because i can't seem to get my thoughts organized. i wish i could climb into my mind, throw all these thoughts, emotions, and ideas into a pile. make them tangible. look at them. hold them in my hands. put them into neat little piles so that i can put them away according. if only life was as simple as when i was 10 years old.

p.s. i am aware the picture is of an owl and i referenced bats. deal with it.

all the things i want...

by Joe Mansfield

WANT! WANT! WANT!so i totally just snatched this post from Design*Sponge but i just had to share this! there is this guy, joe mansfield, who will engrave your tech pieces with stock or custom graphics. AWESOME! he has a flickr page that shows more examples, check it out. oh! he also engraves moleskins, which would be an amazing gift for the artist who sketches or the dreamer who collects thoughts and such within the leathers bindings of the classic notebook.

say what?

who: cody

said what: i hate falling back.

in regards to: daylight savings ending.

... this was way funnier in the car. sorry.

Take me... to the volcano!

when i talk about work to swampy, she imagines that my office resembles the likes of Joe Banks office from the classic film Joe Versus The Volcano. I assure you... it's not that bad. but if you notice, there are only windows in the reception area. bastards try and trick you.

{left to right: entry way. reception area. hallway. kitchen. gym.}

my lovely work space. i am waiting for the day when i can add my own organizational crap to the mix. maybe it will inspire me to focus.

appreciated.

when i walked into my office this morning and turned on the light... i found the best surprise EVER. a very LARGE chai vanilla latte. i almost cried due to my physical tiredness, mental angst of my job and sweetness of this gesture. a new co-worker showed her appreciation for my kindness in showing her the ropes and giving her the lowdown of the office gossip by buying me a coffee. so sweet.

i never NEVER drink that much coffee, if that's what you call it, but i've almost downed the entire cup. "hello walls! i will be bouncing off of you all day. thanks in advance. i'm glad we had this talk."

p.s.- seriously, how cute is this coffee cup sleeve?!

was that angels i heard singing when i walked into the MAC store and was introduced to this amazing product? why yes... yes, i did hear angles! this MAC concealer: studio finish with SPF35 is the stuff dreams are made of! you put it on AFTER you apply your foundation and blend it in with your fingertip... it's that's easy! and it covers flawlessly. love it, love it, love it!

a man had to think of this idea. 'put chocolate next to the tampons. because everyone women craves chocolate when she's on her monthlies.' they are so smart. next thing you know there are going to be condoms hanging from the beer coolers in your local grocers freezer.

i'm not sure when (it's been a while) or how (perusing the internets, i'm sure) i came upon rodney white's homepage but the instant i did, i wanted to gather up all his works and plaster them on all my walls. his pieces embody everything i love with the weathered looked to the use of words and their different shapes, to encouraging phrases. i find his work very inspirational.

i chose this first, for its colors and second, for its phrase. i have tried to use blue as a complimentary color in my living spaces and thought this would be a nice touch. and the phrase is to remind me that no matter what happens, big or small, it changes everything. but be grateful for the small changes because the big ones are usually the ones that knock you on your ass.

by PearlGirl

okay, last post of the day... promise. okay, maybe not but whatever.

this weekend some friends and i hit up the town, Austin style! We ate burgers on burnet road, took a hike to zilker park, participated in the Kite Festival, and ended our day with the best milkshakes in town. if you scroll down this page and check out 'all the pictures i snap', you can enjoy some pictures that were taken while playing around in the park.

i finally moved the armchair from my x office into my apartment. it makes for a cozy little tv watching, computer working, lounging nook. and turk jumps right up on it and curls up with me. that little guy just loves tight spaces. as i was sitting there last night, lost in some tv show, i realized i was comfy... and happy. a feeling i haven't had in such a long time. i enjoyed who i was, where i was, and what i was doing at that very moment. and what made it special was that it was just me, alone. thank God for small miracles.

here is round two to go along with round one.
break me off a piece of the football cream!!!! o how much i miss the office.

this past weekend i was in search for a new pair of tennis shoes and found myself at the local trusty Academy, the right stuff, the right price... Academy, when i tried on a nifty little running shoe in my regular size 6 1/2. because sister no.1 was with me she did the whole mom thing, 'where's your toe at?' and i said, 'at the end. duh.' but when i looked down... it wasn't, it barely cleared the laces... WOWZERS! so i walked over to the foot measuring device and to my surprise, i am now a 5 1/2!! i didn't believe it. i had to have sister no.1 tell me what she saw to believe it. and she confirmed. i have gone down an entire shoe size. i refuse to believe it and will buy nothing smaller than a six. there, i said it.

... now wonder why all my heels have been slipping right off when i walk.

while the sister no. 1 was in town, we hit up the local retail establishments and did some major bank account damage! and i fell in love with these ae bangles. down side... i set my bag down at the PB Kids and someone walked off with my bag that had this and two pair of earrings. bitches.
