by PressaRussa

hey you! yeah you... come here...

so do you like what you see? this blog here. i see that some of you have been checkin' it out but i wanna know what you think! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE leave some comments. Let me know what you think. or just say hello. if you are a returning customer or a one time passer-byer, leave your mark... give me a shout out!

i know swampy is not the only one reading this unless she is hitting refresh a hundred times a day. and though she loves me, she is a very important lady with many things to do... like revoke my cajun card. boo.

but anyway. please comment on whatever from whenever. i'm a big girl, i can handle it.

tallyho.

p.s. - maybe, just maybe if you people post some comments, i'll put your names in a hat and have a drawing for a special prize. just maybe...

a man had to think of this idea. 'put chocolate next to the tampons. because everyone women craves chocolate when she's on her monthlies.' they are so smart. next thing you know there are going to be condoms hanging from the beer coolers in your local grocers freezer.

i'm not sure when (it's been a while) or how (perusing the internets, i'm sure) i came upon rodney white's homepage but the instant i did, i wanted to gather up all his works and plaster them on all my walls. his pieces embody everything i love with the weathered looked to the use of words and their different shapes, to encouraging phrases. i find his work very inspirational.

i chose this first, for its colors and second, for its phrase. i have tried to use blue as a complimentary color in my living spaces and thought this would be a nice touch. and the phrase is to remind me that no matter what happens, big or small, it changes everything. but be grateful for the small changes because the big ones are usually the ones that knock you on your ass.

okay, last post of the day... promise. okay, maybe not but whatever.

this weekend some friends and i hit up the town, Austin style! We ate burgers on burnet road, took a hike to zilker park, participated in the Kite Festival, and ended our day with the best milkshakes in town. if you scroll down this page and check out 'all the pictures i snap', you can enjoy some pictures that were taken while playing around in the park.

i finally moved the armchair from my x office into my apartment. it makes for a cozy little tv watching, computer working, lounging nook. and turk jumps right up on it and curls up with me. that little guy just loves tight spaces. as i was sitting there last night, lost in some tv show, i realized i was comfy... and happy. a feeling i haven't had in such a long time. i enjoyed who i was, where i was, and what i was doing at that very moment. and what made it special was that it was just me, alone. thank God for small miracles.

here is round two to go along with round one.
break me off a piece of the football cream!!!! o how much i miss the office.

this past weekend i was in search for a new pair of tennis shoes and found myself at the local trusty Academy, the right stuff, the right price... Academy, when i tried on a nifty little running shoe in my regular size 6 1/2. because sister no.1 was with me she did the whole mom thing, 'where's your toe at?' and i said, 'at the end. duh.' but when i looked down... it wasn't, it barely cleared the laces... WOWZERS! so i walked over to the foot measuring device and to my surprise, i am now a 5 1/2!! i didn't believe it. i had to have sister no.1 tell me what she saw to believe it. and she confirmed. i have gone down an entire shoe size. i refuse to believe it and will buy nothing smaller than a six. there, i said it.

... now wonder why all my heels have been slipping right off when i walk.

while the sister no. 1 was in town, we hit up the local retail establishments and did some major bank account damage! and i fell in love with these ae bangles. down side... i set my bag down at the PB Kids and someone walked off with my bag that had this and two pair of earrings. bitches.

all the things i want...

two cajuns and the big apple.

as you can see, the title of this blog is the ADVENTURES of pearl girl and yet there are no real adventures blogged about, for that i apologize for false advertisement... so here and now i shall start one!

two cajuns and the big apple
in may, something like 76 days away, swampy and i are headed off to the big apple. my very first time and swampy's not so much very first time. the trip was prompted by an itch and an urge to travel somewhere together; and the annual event i have been just dying to attend, the National Stationary Show was a perfect reason to go to NYC. tickets are booked, hotels reserved and list upon list of places to see and things to do. simply put, I. CAN. NOT. WAIT.

and to top off the best part, so far... as of two minutes ago, i actually got the hotel i wanted. The W Hotel Time Square. at first, it was completely booked and i went ahead and reserved us a room at The Renaissance Time Square, which is just as lovely but not what i wanted. for weeks now i have been checking back to see if the availability at the W changed and today, IT DID! the difference was nothing but a couple of bucks and since i was booking through The Shows travel planner, the rates are practically half price!

ever since seeing something of the same sort on Design*Sponge, i have lusted over these sweet letterpressed calenders. although the calenders seem to be sold out, Don't Press Me has many other charming letterpressed products. i was also smitten by the thoughtful wrapping of my purchase... it arrived wrapped in brown kraft paper, with a handwritten thank you, and a wax seal with the the Don't Press Me logo... it's all in the details people!

after having a lenghty conversation with turk and gauge, they simply refuse to change their ways. they told me that they enjoy talking to the other dogs when they stroll by the windows and they are not going to stop... adolescents i tell ya!

same shit, different neighbor. what do these people expect me to do because euthanizing my pets is really the only way i see how to ' resolve this problem as soon as possible'. so in other words, go fuck yourself, neighbor.

months after my SBJ passed away, i came across this quote and it touched me so deeply at the time because without my friends i would have had such a difficult time carrying on. and today, i still feel the same way. over the years i have been incredibly blessed with many special people who have come in and out of my life. i post this for every single one of those individuals and thank them from the depths of my soul. without you, i would not be the person i am today. i thank you for holding my hand, touching my soul, and loving my heart. i only hope i have you touched your lives with as much understanding, compassion, and gratuity as those who have touched mine. to you, i love you. and thank you.
